UK Student Visa Cost

The fee for the UK Student Visa (formerly Tier 4 (General) Student Visa) is £363 (Approx. Rs 37,082) if the students are applying from outside the UK. In addition, you have to pay a healthcare surcharge, which depends on the duration of your stay.

UK Student Visa: Documents Required

UK Student Visa Requirements: Applying for a student visa requires you to carry a lot more documents in comparison to a tourist visa, by comparison. Aspirants need the mandatory documents along with supporting documents of financial and academic records. Make sure you refer to the UK Student Visa checklist before going to the consulate for the visa interview.
You should have the following documents before applying:

  1. A completed student visa application form.
  2. If you're below 18 years of age, you need to get proof of your parents' or guardian's consent.
  3. A letter of acceptance on the course - Your approved education provider will give you an acceptance letter (CAS or Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) and a visa letter that are official and unconditional offers of a place on a course of study. The visa letter must be issued no more than six months before you apply. Students need to apply for their UK study visa within 6 months of receiving their CAS.
  4. Proof of funds - The money you need to show covers your course fees for your first year of study and living costs for up to a maximum of 9 months (1 academic year). You must show that you have held the money for at least 28 days. The end of that 28-day period must not be more than one month before the date of your application.However, if a student has been in the UK, with a valid visa, for at least 12 months, he/ she does not have to show proof of funds for visa application.
  5. The visa fees payment confirmation receipt.
  6. ATAS certificate if your nationality and course need it.
  7. Original mark sheets/provisional certificates.
  8. Scoresheet of exams like PTE, IELTS, etc.

Documents you'll need to apply

When you apply you’ll need to provide:

  1. your certificate of sponsorship reference number - your employer will give you this
  2. proof of your knowledge of English
  3. a valid passport or other document that shows your identity and nationality your job title and annual salary
  4. your job title and annual salary
  5. your job’s occupation code
  6. the name of your employer and their sponsor license number - this will be on your certificate of sponsorship
  7. Ask your employer for a copy of your certificate of sponsorship if you do not have one.

Other documents you might need

Depending on your circumstances, you might be asked to provide:

  1. evidence that you have enough personal savings to support yourself in the UK, for example bank statements (unless your certificate of sponsorship shows your employer can support you)
  2. proof of your relationship with your partner or children if they’re applying with you
  3. your tuberculosis test results
  4. a criminal record certificate - if you’re working in certain jobs
  5. a valid ATAS certificate if your employer tells you that you need one because your job involves researching a sensitive subject at PhD level or higher.
Eligibility

To qualify for a Skilled Worker visa, you must:

  1. Work for a UK employer that’s been approved by the Home Office
  2. Have a ‘certificate of sponsorship’ from your employer with information about the role you’ve been offered in the UK
  3. do a job that’s on the list of eligible occupations
  4. Be paid a minimum salary - how much depends on the type of work you do.
  5. a valid ATAS certificate if your employer tells you that you need one because your job involves researching a sensitive subject at PhD level or higher.

UK Spouse Visa

Spouse visa requirements

To qualify for a UK spouse / marriage visa you must satisfy the following requirements:

  1. You and your spouse must be 18 years old or over.
  2. You must have met each other and be legally married - this is to prevent arranged marriages.
  1. You must intend to live together permanently.
  2. You must have enough money to support yourselves (and any dependents) without claiming public funds.
  3. Your sponsoring partner must earn more than £18,600 per year or have enough savings to be able to sponsor you. The minimum financial requirement is higher if they are also sponsoring dependent children.
  4. You must have suitable accommodation for you, your spouse and any dependents.
  5. You must satisfy the English language requirements.
How long does the application take?

The average processing time for a spouse visa application is 2 – 12 weeks from the date we submit the application to the UKBA. Processing times vary depending on the country where the application is made.

How long does a spouse visa last?

If applying from overseas, a spouse visa is initially issued for 33 months. If you are applying from within the UK a spouse visa is issued for a period of 30 months.

UK Work Permit

About the process

Most foreign nationals need a work permit to work in UK. There are 2 types of work permits.

Employer-specific work permit

An employer-specific work permit lets you work in UK according to the conditions on your work permit, such as

  1. the name of the specific employer you can work for
  2. how long you can work
  3. the location where you can work (if applicable)

Before you apply for an employer-specific work permit, your employer must give you

  1. a copy of your employment contract
  2. 1 of the following:

  3. a copy of a labour market impact assessment (LMIA)
  4. an offer of employment number (for LMIA-exempt workers)
  5. To get this number, your employer must use the Employer Portal.
If your employer doesn’t need to use the Employer Portal

If your employer does not need to use the Employer Portal to submit an offer of employment, they must give you a copy of the employment contract.

Open work permit

An open work permit lets you work for any employer in UK, except for one that

  1. is listed as ineligible on the list of employers who have failed to comply with the conditions, or
  2. regularly offerserotic dance, escort services or erotic massages
  3. You can only get an open work permit in specific situations

Some jobs require a medical exam. If you don’t want medical conditions on your open work permit, you can get a medical exam from a panel physician.

Your spouse or common-law partner and dependent children may be able to work, study or live with you while you work in UK.
